Blog site owner? Bad news for you! Unless what AI spit references to your site.
As a blogger myself, I enjoy the traffic and few bucks Google sent to my account sometimes 2-3 times a year but that is not happening now. Traditional blogging is becoming less profitable in the age of AI. Search engines are changing how information is delivered. Instead of directing users to websites, AI-powered search tools now summarize answers instantly, reducing clicks and traffic to traditional blogs. Many websites that once relied on ad revenue are seeing declining page views as users get information directly from summaries.
Another challenge is the overwhelming amount of AI-generated content online. Since AI can produce articles quickly and cheaply, the internet is becoming saturated with similar blog posts. This makes it harder for smaller websites to stand out, rank on search engines, or build loyal audiences. As competition increases, monetization through ads and affiliate links becomes less reliable.
However, blogging is not completely dead. Websites that focus on unique expertise, personal experiences, original research, and strong communities still have value. Readers are more likely to trust authentic voices rather than generic AI-written content. Successful blogs in the future may rely less on mass traffic and more on niche audiences, memberships, digital products, or direct services.
In the AI era, contextual blogging is shifting from being a passive income model to a credibility and branding tool. Businesses, creators, and professionals may continue blogging not only for monetization, but also to build authority, trust, and long-term relationships with their audience.
